A new face at the Business Center
We have not forgotten her bright smile and professional manner behind the reception desk, but a few months ago, 27-year-old Samantha Laouniou took up her new position as Team Member in the Hôtel du Centre, Noumea's Business Center.
The position was previously held by William, before he was promoted to Business Center Supervisor, then to Accommodation Manager and Sales Deputy alongside Sales Manager, Romain.
After studying foreign languages in New Zealand and her first professional experience in a travel agency in Noumea, Sam joined the Hôtel du Centre family in 2021, where her service skills and decisiveness were quickly recognised.
Having taken on the position of Hotel Receptionist, Sam soon felt the need for a new, more vibrant and dynamic role. She was looking for more varied and challenging assignments. She, therefore, applied for the position of Business Center Team Member.
She took up her new position in the Hôtel du Centre's Business Center in October 2022, replacing William. Her day-to-day work now involves overseeing the administration and management of the existing ten meeting rooms, and will soon include the new Signature Lounge. The latter will be inaugurated in the near future and will be available for hourly hire 24 hours a day for confidential VIP meetings or meals.
Sam is in charge of setting up the rooms, welcoming groups for seminars and drawing up business quotations. She manages her own schedule, which is something she finds particularly rewarding.
The days fly by but they are never the same! This is what Sam assured us when we asked her what she likes most about her job.
Of course, there are sometimes technical problems with equipment or last-minute requests. However, despite the pressure and stress that this might bring, her motivation remains high.
"My greatest reward? Receiving positive feedback from customers after their meetings and then seeing them return to the Business Center..."
- If you were a meeting room? The new Signature Lounge.
- If you were a high tech equipment? An adapter. I can adapt to anything and everything!
- 3 things you always have with you at the Business Center? My set of keys, my phone and my pass.
- The person, famous or not, who inspires you? My dad.
- If you were not Team Member? I would have studied tourism.
- Your best quality and your main imperfection? I am very sociable and a bit untidy.
Making the Hôtel du Centre synonymous with internal mobility
After four years of loyal service in the Business Center, William recently passed the baton to Sam with complete peace of mind. It is time for this young man to dedicate himself to his new role as Accommodation Manager. And this type of internal promotion is not an isolated case at the hotel.
Indeed, the year 2022 also saw Tina Ngadae, previously a Chambermaid, rise to the position of Assistant Housekeeper and Laurence Soerip, previously Second Chef, becoming Head Chef of the La Pergola restaurant.
This steady career progression reflects our recognition of each individual's skills, commitment and team spirit. The Hôtel du Centre is proud to be supporting its employees in their growth!
